President Assad Visits Eastern Ghouta amid Syrian Army Advances

TEHRAN (defapress) – Syrian President Bashar Assad traveled to the Eastern Ghouta on Sunday, visiting army positions and talking to the Arab country’s commanders about the latest developments there.

Photos released by Syria’s official news agency showed President Assad surrounded by a crowd of men in military clothing.

The photographs were taken in a street lined with damaged building fronts with a couple of parked tanks.

The visit came after the Syrian army and its allies managed to wrest control of more than 70 percent of the Eastern Ghouta district near Damascus.

On Sunday, Syrian forces and their allies continued to make gains in their fight against Takfiri terrorists in Ghouta, managing to move towards the towns of Kafr Batna and Saqba in southern edges of the district.
